Top 10 Depeche Mode Videos
November 16, 2016
With ‘Depeche Mode – The Video Singles Collection’ out this week, we’re running down some of the legendary act’s best visual moments…
Just Can’t Get Enough (directed by Clive Richardson)
The third single from debut album, ‘Speak and Spell’ (1981). Still a synthrock classic.
Master and Servant (directed by Clive Richardson)
The second single from ‘Some Great Reward’ (1984). A haughty, imperious masterpiece.
Stripped (directed by Peter Care)
The first single from the ‘Black Celebration’ album, released in 1986. The groundbreaking samples made for a portentous backdrop to Care’s visuals.
Strangelove (directed by Anton Corbijn)
The debut single from ‘Music For The Masses’ (1987). Darkly beautiful.
Personal Jesus (directed by Anton Corbijn)
The lead single from ‘Violator’ (1990). Still the signature D.M tune for many, marking a new chapter.
Enjoy the Silence (directed by Anton Corbijn)
Single number two from ‘Violator’, and a 1991 Brit Award winner for Best British Single. Another signature classic.
Only When I Lose Myself (directed by Brian Griffin)
Released in 1998 as part of the ‘The Singles 86>98’ collection. Calmly anthemic.
A Pain That I’m Used To (directed by Uwe Flade)
The second single from ‘Playing The Angel’ (2005). More organic than usual.
Suffer Well (directed by Anton Corbijn)
Single number three from ‘Playing The Angel’ and the first single to feature lyrics by Dave Gahan. Grammy nominated.
Heaven (directed by Timothy Saccenti)
Lead single from ‘Delta Machine’ (2013). The video was shot in New Orleans and is incredibly beautiful.
