Happy 70th birthday to Kansas’ Dave Hope, who scored a massive global hit in 1977 with ‘Carry On Wayward Son’. Did you know that he was ordained as an Anglican priest after leaving the band in 1983?

Elvis Presley is featured on a set of commemorative postage stamps celebrating the legacy of pop music icons and their legacy. And we couldn’t think of a more appropriate song than this!

After six weeks in the UK singles charts, The Sweet are still holding strong at No. 6 with the stack-heeled stomping joy that is ‘Wag Wam Bam’.
#OnThisDay October 10, 1970
Blasting their way out of Aston, the mighty Black Sabbath top the UK album charts with their second album, ‘Paranoid’. Did you know that the song was written and recorded in about two hours after the band realised that they didn’t have enough songs for the album?
#OnThisDay October 11, 1982
Adam Ant releases his debut solo album, ‘Friend Or Foe’. Featuring his long time guitarist and songwriting partner Marco Pirroni, the album goes Top 5 in the UK and is certified Gold by the BPI for sales in excess of 100,000 copies.
#OnThisDay October 12, 1974
The Bay City Rollers top the UK album chart with their debut album ‘Rollin’. The album included three top British chart hits ‘Remember’, ‘Shang-a-Lang’, ‘Summerlove Sensation’ and ‘Saturday Night’, which was never a British hit but a No.1 single in America.

In what was seen at the time as a generational passing of the rock’n’roll baton, The Clash support The Who at Shea Stadium in New York. A recording of the gig is later released in 2000 as ‘Live At Shea Stadium’.
