Vinyl of the Week: The Clash – London Calling

September 21, 2015

On September 20th, 1979,  The Clash played New York Palladium. Photographer Pennie Smith caught this iconic shot of Paul Simonon smashing his guitar on the floor – this photo went on to become the cover shot for ‘London Calling’ – referencing Elvis Presley’s debut album (1956). It is one of the best recognised album sleeves of all time. The design of the Clash sleeve is by Ray Lowry.

Also, note the RRP for £5.00!
